Many people do not understand that certain timepieces cannot be worn with certain outfits. A popular mens watch is a silver stainless-steel chronograph watch such as the Submariner series or Tag Huer watches. While these are great watches, they are sporty. You would not wear a watch like that with a suit or tuxedo. On the other hand, if you are wear jeans and a t-shirt, you would not wear a Rado or a Movado watch since those watches are meant for dressy attire.
Sports watches were made for the primary intention of being used in certain sport events where you could use a timer or stopwatch such as football, soccer, track and field, etc. These watches have the standard sport look such as a chronograph, stainless-steel bezel, and tachymeter. A watch like this has normally a bigger face and looks great with casual outfits and is very versatile in the style of outfits it will look good on. Something like this will not work well with formal outfits for occasions that require suits or tuxedo’s. A sport watch will stand out too much and in a negative way making your entire outfit look tacky.
For a tuxedo or formal occasion where you must wear a suit and tie, a dress watch is preferred and gives off a stylish look. Unlike a sport watch which many features and a larger face, a dress watch is basic and subtle. The biggest fashion mistake that men make when wearing outfits for formal occasions is wearing accessories that bring too much attention. Instead, you want a classic, timeless look, and the perfect way to pull off a look like this is a very subtle watch. One of the most famous watches for doing this is the Movado. A Movado watch is known for how subtle they are yet they are one of the best selling watches for formal outfits and dress codes. Generally, these watches have a muted stainless-steel or leather band and the face of the watch will be black and normally does not have the time numbers on the face. It has just the hour, minute, and second hands making it a very simple, yet exquisite watch to wear.
Not all watches are made equal and it is good to wear the correct watch to the type of setting and atmosphere it was intended for. You would not wear a classic timepiece to a baseball game and you also would not wear a over sized chronograph watch with a tuxedo to a wedding. Knowing the right watch to wear will give you a boost of style and confidence.
In 1999 the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded to Gunter Blobel for the discovery that proteins have intrinsic signals that govern their transport and localisation in the cell. It was based on this research into how cells use these signals that the functions of glycoproteins were discovered.
Glycoproteins are molecules that have a sugars and protein bonded together. The sugar chains of glycoproteins play a role in determining their destination in the cell or body. The bonding of sugars to proteins to form glycoproteins significantly alters the properties of these proteins.
There are eight sugars that predominantly bond with proteins to form glycoproteins, these are: xylose, galactose, glucose, mannose, fucose, N-acetylgalactosamine, N-acetylglucosamine and N-acetylneuraminic acid.
WHAT ARE THE FUNCTIONS OF GLYCOPROTEINS?
Glycans contain biologic information and are the specific sequence of sugars in a glycoprotein that determine its recognition and interaction with other molecules in the cell, often resulting in a biologic effect or response. These impart their function to glycoproteins.
Glycoproteins have many functions in the human body. A few functions of interest is that they are used structurally in the body to form some types of collagen; or are involved in cell-cell interactions, such as in the proteins involved in sperm-egg interactions during fertilisation or how cells stick together to form tissues and communicate with each other. They also function in cell signalling.
Cell signaling is the related study of how healthy cells respond appropriately in health to various stimuli e.g., hormones, growth factors, drugs, cell-cell contact, etc. Glycoproteins on the surface of one cell bind to glycoprotein receptors on another cell, which allows the cells to communicate with one another. These communications then result in other cellular events, such as secretion of bioactive substances, killing of bacteria and cell debris, inhibition of adherence necessary for bacterial infection. Conversely, the responses may be inappropriate in certain diseases, such as cancer and cancer cell metastasis.
Lectins, for example, are proteins that selectively bind glycans. One lectin will recognize and bind mannose at the end of a glycan, whereas others will recognize and bind to glycans containing fucose, galactose, or other sugars. A class of lectins called selectins helps white blood cells to sites of inflammation.
WHAT IS GLYCONUTRITION?
Glyconutrition is the supplementation the 8 principal sugars that are needed by the body to from glycoproteins. They are considered essential nutrients, much the same as essential amino acids or essential fatty acids, which means you have to get them from your diet.
WHY IS GLYCONUTRITION CONSIDERED ESSENTIAL?
Metabolic pathways exist for synthesis of non-glucose sugars from glucose, and it has long been thought that glucose is the most important dietary sugar; it has recently been shown that glycoprotein formation actually prefer to utilize non-glucose essential sugars (e.g. mannose) provided in the diet as substrates. In fact, if only glucose is supplied, the liver severely malfunctions, due to a lack of the other essential sugars, indicating that the body simply cannot synthesize all the other essential sugars from glucose to the extent that they are needed.
WHERE ARE THE 8 SUGARS OBTAINED FROM IN THE DIET?
These 8 sugars will only appear in fruit and vegetables that are vine ripened; this essentially means the fruit or vegetable ripens on the plant. However this is a process that no longer happens in modern agriculture. Much of our fruit and vegetables are picked when green, and artificially ripened prior to being put on the shelves at the supermarket. This means sadly that we have to supplement with them to obtain the eight necessary sugars essential for health.
HOW MAY CORRECT GLYCOPROTEIN FORMATION CONTRIBUTE TO DISEASE MANAGEMENT?
As can be seen from the preceding paragraphs, glycoproteins are vital in the health and maintenance of the human body; so much so, that extensive research has been conducted on them in relation to certain diseases.
Implications for cancer. Research has shown that there are changes to the sugars in glycoproteins of cancer cells. These changes relate to adhesion properties of the cancer cell and their ability to adhere to other cells in the body or to metastasize. These altered glycoproteins may also relate to the ability of the tumour to avoid the responses of the immune system. Altered glycoproteins have been found in intestinal, pancreatic, liver, ovarian, prostate, and lung cancers.
Glycoproteins that have mannose in their structure has been shown to activate macrophages (an immune system cell), one of the most important cells involved in fighting cancer. Also, the release of substances from the macrophage is stimulated, which activates natural killer cells (another immune system cell involved in the elimination of cancer cells).
Implications for chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. The principle symptoms of these conditions include muscle and joint pain, chronic fatigue, non-restorative sleep, chronic tension, migraine headaches, and bowel and bladder irritability. The immune, endocrine (e.g. hormones), nervous (e.g. neurotransmitters, sleep pathways, psychological stress), and muscular (e.g. tender points) systems of the body are all intimately involved in these syndromes. Glycoproteins all play important roles in maintaining the health and normal functioning of these systems. Therefore supplementation with the 8 simple sugars may positively impact on these syndromes.
Implications for inflammation. Inflammation in itself is not a disease, but rather occurs as result of tissue injury, such as in bacterial infection. Inflammation is usually beneficial to the individual. However, this process can get out of hand, as many diseases that affect us are inflammatory in origin. As noted earlier, glycoproteins help guide immune cells to sites of inflammation, as well as they are involved in the process of allowing the immune cells to traverse the wall of blood vessels and enter the tissues at the site of inflammation.
Implications for peptic ulcers induced by Helicobacter pylori bacteria. Helicobacter pylori attach to 2 specific glycans on the cell surfaces of stomach and duodenum. Once attached, the bacteria release various enzymes that along with the acidic content of the stomach, results in ulceration. Glycans are the first molecules encountered by bacteria as a means to attach to cells. The 8 sugars compete with bacteria for attachment to the glycans, and is one way of blocking bacterial adherence.
Implications for stress. Research has shown that the formation of glycoproteins is significantly altered in various types of stress, such as in infection, inflammation and trauma.
Stress exists in many forms, whether it is psychological (as in nervous system dysfunction), environmental (as in extreme heat or chemical toxins) or physicochemical (such as in exercise). Glycoproteins prevent and repair damage to cells as a result of these stresses.
Implications for Rheumatoid Arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an inflammatory condition, and glyconutritions are known to positively affect inflammation.
RA is an autoimmune condition, meaning that antibodies are produced against the body’s own tissues; this implies that there is a miscommunication between the immune system and the joint tissue. The abnormal antibody produced is IgG, which has less than normal amounts of galactose in its structure, and during remission this reduction of galactose is reversed.
It has also been found that fucose is markedly reduced in RA patients. The greater the deficiency of fucose in RA patients, the more severe the symptoms will be.
Supplementation of the necessary sugars, i.e. galactose and fucose, needed by the body to combat this illness.
On the topic of auto-immune conditions I would like to share a case of mine successfully treated with the ise of these 8 essential sugars. Mrs T. presented to me with discoid lupus, which is a milder case of lupus which predominantly affects the skin, causing hard ‘scar-like’ lesions. She had these lesions spread throughout the body. I prescribed the sugars in a powder, 5g/day. After using them for a period of 3 months, all of her skin lesions were completely healed, as well as her anti nuclear factor had dropped right down to normal blood levels.
In my personal experience with these sugars I have found that they are the best in treating auto-immune conditions such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis etc. If you have any questions regarding the use of the 8 sugars for your health condition/s, feel free to contact me.
As can be seen from the above article, proper glycoprotein formation plays an important role on the maintenance of health and combating of disease. Sadly six of the eight sugars no longer appear in our food supply, and it has become necessary to supplement with these sugars in order to maintain optimum health.
Most people are too embarrassed to tell their doctors about their hemorrhoids. Also called piles, hemorrhoids are masses that accumulate around the rectum. Due to straining or pressure, veins protrude from thin membranes, forming pouches. These can be so painful and irritating that even normal tasks can become stressful ordeals. What is the impact of hemorrhoids to your overall health?
Internal hemorrhoids are those formed inside the rectum, and sometimes extend outside the anus when dilated. External hemorrhoids are lumps that can be seen by the naked eye. Digital rectal exams (DRE) administered by doctors can detect lumps that aren’t visible, but a common symptom of hemorrhoids involve streaks of blood in the stool or toilet paper.
Hemorrhoids can be hereditary in nature. If you have family members with the same problem, then yours is probably genetic. Frequent diarrhea and constipation can increase pressure on the main vein leading to your lower extremities. Straining can impede normal circulation in the body, which weakens the walls of the veins, forming hemorrhoids.
Hemorrhoids, both internal and external, are painful. Prolonged standing and sitting can cause irritation, pain and even inflammation in the affected areas. It is uncomfortable and can distract from work. Worse, there are instances when hemorrhoids can really take a toll on your health.
There are times where a blood clot may form and cause severe pain in the area. This condition requires immediate intervention. Since hemorrhoids can bleed, anemia may also be a problem. Bowel movements, and scratching can lead to severe blood loss in some cases. Untreated anemia will result in fatigue, poor nutrition and body weakness – all of which can get in the way of your work even further.
As stated before, hemorrhoids can also protrude outside the body. When this happens, there’s a tendency that blood supply may be cut off. This condition is called strangulated hemorrhoids, which can lead to tissue death. Infection is the primary concern when this happens.
Hemorrhoids require immediate medical intervention. Topical creams/ointments and painkillers may be prescribed to numb the pain. Your doctor may also suggest soaking the affected area in warm water to relax the area and prevent irritation.
Most hemorrhoids are mild in nature, and sometimes go away on their own. But if you don’t pay close attention, they may lead to complications. Always keep in mind that prevention is better than cure, so keep moving, get some exercise, and eat only the right stuff.
For 75 years Harvard researchers followed the same 600+ people to determine what contributes to a long, healthy, and happy life. The Harvard Happiness Study is the longest study on health and happiness ever conducted and continues to this day. The Harvard Happiness study has two components: The Grant study, and The Gluek Study. The Grant Study follows 268 physically- and mentally-healthy Harvard college sophomores from the classes of 1939-1944. The second component The Glueck Study, includes 456 disadvantaged non-delinquent inner-city youths who grew up in Boston neighbourhoods between 1940 and 1945. All Subjects were male and of American nationality.
What insights did the 75 year old study reveal? Below are the seven key factors identified.
1. Keep Learning
The Gluek study shows mortality rates of the inner-city participants at ages 68 to 70 whilst the Harvard participants (Grant) lived longer – 78 to 80. The exceptions? Glueck participants who graduated from college (only about 6%) were just as healthy as the Grant participants, even in old age. The studies suggest a lack of education could shorten someone’s life by as much as 10 years.
Multiple studies have confirmed the protective health benefits of education. And if you’re beyond your college years, continued intellectual stimulation at any age can prevent your mind and body from deteriorating.
2. Don’t Abuse Alcohol
Not surprisingly, alcohol abuse is the No. 1 contributor to disease and early death among all participants in both study groups.
The Harvard Happiness study lead investigator, Dr. George Vaillant, even concluded that, “alcohol is a cause, rather than a result, of life’s problems.” Just a few of these problems being depression and neurosis, which tended to follow alcohol abuse, rather than precede it.
3. Don’t Smoke
Aside from alcohol abuse, smoking cigarettes was the next greatest contributor to disease and early death for all participants.
Interestingly, America’s No. 1 tobacco company Phillip Morris was a major funder for the Grant Study. During those years, the participant questionnaires contained questions like, “If you never smoked, why didn’t you?” Despite the subliminal undertones, the study’s major funder couldn’t ignore the consequences and fatalities of smoking. Needless to say, Philip Morris isn’t a sponsor anymore…
4. Exercise and Maintain a Healthy Weight
In his book about the Harvard Happiness Study, entitled Triumphs of Experience, Dr. Vaillant challenges one of our most commonly held conceptions: exercise causes good health. He questions, “Might it not be the other way around? Healthy people exercise, but not necessarily that exercise makes people healthy.”
The study shows regular exercise in college predicted late-life mental health better than it did physical health.
Dr Valliant concludes that exercise and healthy weight are two of the major factors for long life and happiness. While the researchers may not know exactly why exercise and maintaining a healthy weight helps people live longer, the longitudinal study simply shows that it does! Just do it.
5. Relationships Rule.
When asked what he learned from over 40 years leading the Harvard Happiness Study, Dr. Valiiant says “The only things that really matter in life are your relationships to other people.” When asked again for a key takeaway from the study, Vaillant simply said: “Happiness is love. Full stop.”
In a recent TED Talk, Dr. Waldinger concluded, “Good relationships keep us happier and healthier”. After 75 years and $25 million spent, the result of the findings is that good relationships are important.
Not only did participants of both studies who reported having close relationships tend to be happier and healthier, but they also lived longer. Positive relationships are found to have a protective benefit, both physically and mentally, while bad relationships led to earlier physical and mental decline. Positive relationships can actually fend off perceived physical pain, whilst nightmarish relationships have a way of magnifying the pain.
While studying 75 years of records on over 600 people, Dr. Waldinger concludes, “people who fared the best are those who invest in relationships with family, friends and the community. On the other hand, investing in your career and striving for more success has little relevance in the longevity stakes.
6. The Key to Financial Success
According to the longitudinal study, the key to financial success above a certain level does not depend on intelligence, but rather on the warmth of relationships. Those who scored highest on the “warm relationships” measurements in the questionnaire earned an average of $141,000 a year more. Conversely there is no significant difference in maximum income earned by men with IQs in the 110-115 range and men with IQs higher than 150.
7. Develop Great Coping Strategies.
In the Glueck Study, childhood industriousness predicted adult mental health better than any other factor including family cohesion and warm maternal relationships. Childhood industriousness is indicated by whether the boys engaged in activities including part-time jobs, chores, and involvement with school clubs and sports teams
While the study confirms that recovery from a lousy childhood is possible, memories of a happy childhood are a lifelong source of strength.
Harvard Happiness Study Results
The Harvard Study results reveal seven key factors necessary to live a happy, long and healthy life. Participants who only had three of the seven factors at age 50 were three times more likely to be dead by 80. The research shows you need more than 3 of the seven factors to live a long life of health and vitality.
Whilst being fit and healthy are key factors, reading books and keeping your mind active is also important. So too, is the development of good coping strategies to help deal with the curve balls life throws at you. However, the most important factor of all is building and maintaining relationships. So get involved in the community, call your siblings, read books and laugh. Science Says!
A healthy life is important to lead a good life. Our health is like a wall pre-requisite to draw a picture. We are the architect of our own health. Either we prevent being unhealthy or cure the damage already done. Physical fitness is very vital. Fitness is a relative term. A sprinter should have a different degree of fitness as compared to a music teacher. There are many more dimensions one can bring to define fitness. Depending upon the required level of fitness, one should take appropriate steps.
More than five billion people live in this world. The body constitution of each one of us is different. The calories needed for every individual is different. There is no one common prescription for everyone in this world. Let us take few examples. The energy level needed for a professional designer is different from a taxi driver. To prescribe a labourer to grab a cereal bar for breakfast is ridiculous. My dad’s friend, a chain smoker died at the age of 83! Believe me, I observed him leading a healthy life. I am not recommending you to smoke to live a healthy life. I try to drive home the point that you should not get carried away by exciting information that is available around you and go overboard to apply in your daily life also. That is dangerous to a healthy life.
While we cannot have five billion suggestions for physical fitness and healthy life, we can identify common needs for all of us. Whether you are an Olympic champion or an office clerk; a celebrity or a hair dresser, only three appropriate steps have to be taken by you. Look at your eating habit, physical fitness exercise and exercise for the mind. You can build further with many bolts-on to achieve laurels in life.
We can use our common sense to lead a healthy life. It does not require great knowledge about science or medicine or physical exercise. Leave that to the specialists. We are all aware that food is very important for sustenance. Our body is a mysterious workshop containing various machines. Food is its input. The machine processes the food and provides energy to the body to do our daily life activities. If the input to the machine is more than its capacity to process, obviously the machine will break down. If the quality of input to the machine is not conducive to the construction of the machine, again the machine will collapse. Apart from the quality and quantity of intake, we should pay attention to timing. There is a saying. I am sure all of us know this. We should eat breakfast like a prince. In the after noon, we should eat lunch like a king. In the night, we should eat meal like a beggar. The digesting power during the night is very poor. Also there is no physical activity involved in the night when we sleep. So allow the stomach t be half filled. Have your dinner couple of hours before going to bed. When we wake up in the morning, if we take a glass of water, it helps for the body to hydrate to prepare for the day’s job. How we cannot start our car with 4th gear, the same way we should consider our body. After 10 hrs of empty stomach when we break the fast, we should start with simple and easily digestible food. Basically we should start with first gear and move on. In my view, to have physical fitness, 3 times of intake – morning, afternoon and night is sufficient. Perhaps refreshment between lunch and dinner can also be incorporated. The key driver is to scrupulously follow the routine timing of intake. This is a good recipe for a healthy life.
Our stomach is the origin for all our ailments. Even the main reason for bad breath originates from the stomach only. If we do not take care of our stomach and brush our teeth with costliest tooth paste and wash our mouth with most expensive liquid mouth wash, the bad breath will not vanish. We should keep our stomach clean by taking appropriate quantity, quality of food in routine timings. It is easier said than done but not impossible. You know who is the culprit? It is our tongue. If we pay heed to the taste, then we would not be able to control the quantum. It does not mean that we should not enjoy the taste. In fact the tongue contributes to a great deal for healthy life. When we enjoy food, we feel good. Feeling good is a sign of healthy life. If someone asks you to take only green vegetables to have physical fitness, there is no difference between us and herbivores. But the trick is not to cross the limit of moderation. That will be counter productive. Give importance to the taste but be careful. We should eat to live and not live to eat.
Many of us believe that being slim leads to a healthy life. One of my friends is slim but has cholesterol. It is a wrong notion. The body structure of each one of us is different. An elephant should not try to become a horse. Nature has created that way. What is important is to prevent becoming over weight or obese or under weight. If the damage is done, consult specialist to get back on track. Do not perform any physical fitness exercise without the proper guidance of a physical education expert. Sometimes you are the expert of knowing your own do-s and don’t-s. The first day when I went to learn Tai Chi, Chinese version of Yoga, the master told me to rotate my neck clockwise and anticlockwise as a warm up exercise. However I was earlier told by my orthopedic surgeon not to rotate my neck to recover from a type of spondylities I had. What was good for others did not suit me. There will be many such situations where we should use our wisdom. Especially we have to be careful on physical fitness exercise.
Life is a series of experiences. If our experiences are good we say the life is good, otherwise we say the life is bad. Mind determines whether an experience is good or bad. Healthy life is achieved by the combination of healthy body and healthy mind. Mind does not exist in our brain. Mind is a subtle matter manifests in our astral body between our soul and physical body. The food we eat is converted into energy by the blood and the finest particles of food reach the subtle mind and then to still subtler intellect. While healthy food definitely supports for a healthy mind, nevertheless exercise to the mind is also very important to have a healthy life. Yoga is considered to be one of the best forms of giving exercise to the body and mind. A branch of Yoga has physical fitness exercise also. Meditation is another form of giving healthy exercise to the mind. These have to be practiced with the help of specialists. This is the body-mind-intellect complex. A simple but effective understanding and application of the above will go a long way to attain a healthy life.
Fibroids are mild tumors that develop inside a woman’s uterus. However, they are not cancerous. They occur most commonly among women during their reproductive age. It is also more common among obese and black women. While some fibroid cases are not evident and rarely cause problems, there are others that grown large and become a major problem. Patients with cases like these are required to undergo treatment.
Treatment for fibroids range from natural to surgical procedures. Those who opted for a natural treatment have to undergo changes in their diet and their overall way of life. This requires full commitment and discipline in order to fully treat the illness. Vegetables, fruits, whole grain and legumes are included in the diet as these foods are known to have medicinal attributes that help cure fibroids. Moreover, patients must avoid processed or commercial foods as well as meat, dairy products, and egg among others because these foods increase the estrogen level therefore making the fibroids grow.
Research shows that menopause is advantageous to end or totally eliminate fibroids but this is not the only option left for the patients. Apple cider, vinegar, and baking soda which can be found in your kitchen can potentially reduce fibroids or cyst because it is an alkaline substance. Research also claims that these kitchen ingredients reduce excess calcium in the body tissue making the ovary function normally for regular menstrual cycles. Since fibroids can cause infertility; reduction of them will increase women chances of pregnancy.
Lemon or lime and baking soda also has the same effects as apple cider and baking soda. Lemon or lime has a greater amount of alkaline substance while apple cider has the ability to increase metabolic rate causing weight loss. Either of the two options must be taken two or three times a day. The recipe for this kitchen cure is 2 tablespoon of natural apple cider vinegar and half or one teaspoon of baking soda dissolved in eight ounces of water.
These tips are a few of the natural treatment that have been proven to bring wonderful results. Actually, there are various types of natural procedure known to cure fibroids and it may vary from one person to another. Some might be effective for you but not for others.
Teaching Fitness Boxing – 5 Simple Technique Cues for Personal Trainers, Coaches and Boxing Trainers
Cues are simple, memorable and colorful words or expressions to help you teach proper technique for your boxing workouts. For example, Float Like a Butterfly. Cues are much better than technical jargon because they get the point across, on the fly. These cues will work for personal trainers and group trainers teaching boxing. They will also work for anyone holding punch mitts (focus pads) for their partner.
I – Float Like a Butterfly
What it means – For Ali, I think it meant to dance around the ring, which he did very well. However, for Fitness Boxing, it means to get up on the balls of the feet and move – whenever they are not punching.
When and Why to say it - Float like a butterfly helps students get up on their toes, burn more calories and work their legs. Tell students to do this between punches and combinations – not at the same time.
2. Put Out the Cigarette
What it means – This cue means to twist the ball of the foot, so the toe points toward the target, resulting in more hip and leg drive, and more powerful punches.
When and Why to say it – A good punch uses the core. By twisting the foot, like you are putting out a cigarette on the ground, the boxer / student will engage the Abs and core muscles. This cue works very well for the right cross punch.
3. Over the Brick Wall
What it means – This cue helps students keep their elbow nice and high for the left or right hook punch. They imagine there is a chest-high brick wall in front of them. The hook goes over the brick wall.
When and Why to say it - Say the cue as just before or even as they throw the hook. A high elbow helps prevent a wild swinging on the hook punch.
4. Eye of the Tiger
What it means – We’ve all heard the song, but to me eye of the tiger means to focus. A tiger keeps her eye on her prey, never looking away.
When and Why to say this – Students will look away or flinch at the moment they punch. Also, in real boxing they will look away when under attack. That is not the time to look away!
5. Corkscrew the Fist
What it means – This means twisting the fist, so it faces the ground, enabling the student to strike with the front two knuckles.
When and Why to say it – This cue works very well for both the left jab and right cross (or right jab and left cross for left handers). Tell them to twist their fist just before the moment of impact, and right through the punch mitt.
Try these 5 cues as you teach your boxing sessions. They will help your students remember and perform the technique tips that result in great punching and great fitness.
Football is a very popular competitive team sport. The object of this game is to score more points than the other team. You can score points various ways like carrying the ball over the goal line, running with the ball over the goal line, catching a pass while standing behind the goal line and many more ways. Whoever has the most points wins the game. The ball is an oval shaped ball. The game is played on a grass field that is 360 feet by 160 feet. The field is separated by many lines for game play. Each team typically plays with 11 players each on the field.
Another competitive team played sport is baseball. This one is played with a bat and a small hard ball. The team with the most points wins the games. Points are calculated by how many players have crossed home plate. One team bats while the other team pitches and plays outfield. After so many strikes, they switch places. The field is diamond shape and made up with grass and dirt. There are 9 players on each team.
Softball is a lot like baseball. It is played with a bat and a softer version of the baseball. Softball uses the same field as baseball does and has the same rules although softball often has additional bases called safe bases. Safe bases are so the first baseman and the runner do not collide with one another during game play. You will typically see these bases in children’s softball and women’s softball games. Points are also calculated by how many players have crossed home plate. After so many strikes, the teams switch places from outfield to batting.
This is also a competitive team sport. Played with a large round ball and a hoop or a basket. The object of this game is to get the ball into the hoop more times than the other team. Each time the ball goes into the hoop points are scored. The value of points depends on where the player is standing when they shoot the ball into the hoop. The court is a solid flat ground with baskets or hoops on each end. There are different size courts depending on who is playing. Regulation court size is 94 feet by 50 feet.
Soccer is a competitive team played game. This game is played with a ball that is round and big and two goal nets, one on each end of the field. The object of this game is to score more points than the other team. You score points by kicking the ball into your opponent’s goal net. You are not allowed to use any hands in this game with the exception of the goalkeeper which is the person who guards the goal net. There are 22 players on the field at one time. The field is varied in length from 50 yards to 120 yards, depending on who is playing and what regulations they are using.
Pregnancy is a nine month journey… It is a time in your life to feel happy, excited, serene and joyful. However it is also quite normal to experience anxieties about the birth and worrying about whether you are nourishing yourself properly, exercising, keeping, calm, positive, loving thoughts and emotions within your being.
Pregnancy lasts 39 weeks or nine months from conception and is looked at in three stages.
Health & Nutrition During Pregnancy
To ensure that your baby develops in a healthy environment, you should keep your body as fit and well nourished as you possibly can. Do not think in terms of devising a special diet for pregnancy, it is more to do with eating a good variety of the right foods which are those that are rich in the essential nutrients.
The amount of weight put on by women in pregnancy varies between 9 – 16 kilograms, with the most rapid gain usually between weeks 24 and 32.
Don’t “eat for two”. Some 46 percent of women gain too much weight during pregnancy.
Diet During Pregnancy
You ARE What You Eat therefore Your Baby Is What You Eat!
What You Eat affects your baby’s future. What you eat in the following nine months can impact your baby’s health, as well as your own, for decades to come.
A good diet is vital to health during pregnancy, and to the normal development of the baby. The time to pay attention to diet, and if necessary change it for the better, is several months prior to conception and not when pregnancy is confirmed.
During the critical early weeks the normal, healthy development of the embryo depends on the mother’s state of nutritional health and also her toxic state.
Mineral and vitamin imbalances which would probably go unnoticed in a child or adult can have a disastrous effect on the developing baby.
This is because the cells in the embryo are growing at such a rapid rate, causing an exaggerated response to any harmful influences.
A natural, organic, whole food diet is the only one which will adequately serve during pregnancy.
A high quality diet is needed to maintain your own health and the best possible conditions for the baby to develop.
As our environment becomes more polluted and the soils more depleted of nutrients, going 100% organic, if possible, is the best thing you can do for oneself, and for a developing fetus, and last but not least; the environment.
Pesticides, herbicides, and other forms of pollution interfere with the metabolic pathways of many nutrients and thus indirectly interfere with the development of the immune, endocrine, and neurological systems.
Eating as many of our foods in their live, raw form preserves 70 to 80% more vitamins and minerals, 50% more bioactive protein, and up to 96% more bioavailable vitamin B12.
Grains, nuts and seeds are the most potent health-building foods of all. Eaten raw or sprouted if possible (some grains need to be cooked), they contain all the essential nutrients for human growth, sustenance, and ongoing optimal health.
A well balanced diet is based on whole cereals and grains (brown bread, rice, pasta, buckwheat, rye, oats), nuts and seeds, pulses and beans, fresh fruit and vegetables, pure unrefined oils such as cold pressed olive oil, with some fish and eggs if required.
Fruit and vegetables are all excellent sources of vitamins, minerals and trace elements provided they are eaten in the right way.
They should be fresh, either raw or quickly cooked, steamed or stir-fried, and preferably consumed immediately after they are harvested.
Salt is needed to maintain the extra volume of blood, to supply enough placental blood, and to guard against dehydration and shock from blood loss at birth, (except in cases of kidney and heart problems) Suggested form of salt is Himalayan Pink Salt.
• Form the basic building blocks of all our body tissues, cells, hormones, and antibodies.
• Food must fuel the growth of the uterus, which can grow to 30 times its original size over the nine months gestation period Add the development of breasts, placenta, development of breast milk, the baby’s body.
Proteins are divided into complete and incomplete:
Complete proteins contain significant amounts of all the essential amino acids, you find them in meat, poultry, fish, eggs, milk and soya bean products.
Vegetable proteins are incomplete and contain only some of the essential amino acids. Some vegetarian sources of complete protein are: buckwheat, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, flaxseeds, and almonds.
Plant proteins are easier for our bodies to digest and produce less toxic waste than animal proteins. The fiber in plants also has a very beneficial effect on the bowel; it ensures healthy bowel movements and the correct bacterial population in the gut, and prevents the buildup of putrefactive bacteria produced by excess animal proteins.
Eating meat and meat products also carries the risk from chemical and hormonal residues found in intensively reared animals. Also soya beans or soy products are mostly genetically engineered, hence it is wise to stay clear of them.
Pregnant women need about 60 to 75 grams of protein a day.
The best and cleanest sources of protein are green vegetables, spirulina, seeds (hemp, flax, sesame, poppy, sunflower, chia, quinoa, amaranth ).
Real strength and building material comes from:
• green – leafy vegetables, seeds and superfoods. They contain all the amino acids we require.
Essential Fatty Acids are vital to :
• the development of the baby’s nervous and immune systems. They build the cell walls in all our tissues, and so that trace elements and fat-soluble vitamins (A,E,D, and K) can be absorbed.
• EFA’s are needed to make adrenal and sex hormones, and to maintain a healthy population of bacteria in the gut.
• They are also essential to the normal development of the fetus’s brain: 70 per cent of all EFAs go to the brain.
The Best Fatty Foods include:
Avocados, Borage Seed Oil, Raw Cacao Beans (Chocolate Nuts), Coconut oil/ butter, Flax seed and its oil, Grape seeds, Hemp seed and its oil (cold pressed), RAW Nuts of all types (cashews must be soft to be truly “raw”), Nut Butters (almond butter is excellent), Olives and their oil (stone pressed or cold pressed), Peanuts (must be certified aflatoxin free), Poppy seeds, pumpkin seeds and their oil (cold pressed), Sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, tahini (sesame butter), or even better if you can get hold of it at a health food store unhulled tahini (an alkaline fat, high in calcium), Young Coconuts (young Thai coconuts are available in the US at Asian markets), Coconut milk, coconuts (mature).
Superfoods are foods with extraordinary properties. Usually they contain all essential amino acids, high levels of minerals, and a wide array of unique, even rare, nutrients. I have included the superfoods in the nutritional tips below.
Some prominent superfoods to include:
1) Himalayan Pink Salt – offers 84 minerals exactly identical to the elements in your body.
2) Spirulina (a spiral algae consumed for thousands of years by indigenous people in Mexico and Africa)
-It has the highest concentration of protein on Earth. 60%
-It is also very high in Iron, and many other vitamins and minerals.
-It is one of the highest sources of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) on the planet. Only mother’s milk is higher.
-It is recommended to take more Spirulina during breastfeeding because of the GLA.
-Spirulina is very high in human-active B12.
3) Blue-Green Algae (Klamath lake algae wonderful brain food). It is high in protein, chlorophyll, vitamins, and minerals and enhances the immune system.
I value it in pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, and lactation for its enhancing effect on brain function.
4) Bee Pollen (wild pollen, not orchard pollen, should be used and should come from ethically harvested sources where bees are treated respectfully. Bee Pollen is nature’s most complete food) All amino acids, immune system, brain, eyes.
5) Flax, Sunflower, Chia, Sesame and pumpkin seeds are the best to use. Flaxseeds are excellent and the highest vegetarian source of omega-3-essential fatty acids, important for the immune system, nervous system, and brain development. I recommend one to two tablespoons daily of the uncooked and unheated oil or three to six tablespoons of freshly ground flaxseeds. (Use a coffee grinder). You may also grind the other above mentioned seeds and add them to salads, and fruit salads.
6) Wild young coconuts (not be confused with white Thai coconuts found in markets, wild coconuts are one of the greatest foods on earth. The coconut water and soft inner flesh are strength enhancing, electrolyte-rich, mineral-rich, youthening and invigorating. Great in smoothies.
Here Are Some Nutrition Tips that will help you both:
1) Get Enough Folic Acid. 400 micrograms (mcg) daily. Folic Acid reduces chance of birth defects such as spina bifida. Especially in the first 6 weeks of pregnancy.
2) Best Food Sources of Folic Acid are: RAW Green leafy vegetables, including spinach, kale, beet greens, beet root, chard, asparagus, and broccoli. Starchy vegetables containing folic acid are corn, lima beans, green peas, sweet peas, sweet potatoes, artichokes, okra, and parsnips. Oats are high in folic acid as well as whole wheat brown bread. Many fruits have folic acid such as oranges, cantaloupe, pineapple, banana, and many berries including loganberries, boysenberries, and strawberries. Also fresh sprouts such as lentil, mung bean sprouts are excellent sources. REMINDER: Folic acid is available from fresh, unprocessed food, which is why it is so common a deficient in our culture’s processed, cooked food diet.
3) Eat Your Fish. Getting enough DHA (found in abundance in seafood and flaxseed) is one of the most important things you can do for you and your developing baby’s health. DHA is the omega-3 fatty acid that can boost baby’s brain development before birth, leading to better vision, memory, motor skills and language comprehension in early childhood. Eat at least 12 ounces a week of low-mercury fish, or take a DHA supplement such as Krill Oil.
• Avoid large, predatory fish such as shark, swordfish, king mackerel and tilefish. (As big fish eat smaller fish, the larger, longer-living ones accumulate more mercury).
• Seaweed and Cilantro remove heavy metals and radioactive isotopes from the tissues.
4) Avoid Alcohol – The main risk of consuming alcohol during pregnancy is the development of “fetal alcohol syndrome” (FAS). mother.. NO AMOUNT IS SAFE. AVOID TOTALLY.
5) Avoid Caffeine: In high amounts causes birth defects and still births, miscarriages and premature delivery.
6) Avoid Drugs – As far as possible all orthodox drugs should be avoided during pregnancy, especially in the first three months. Consider natural alternatives and visiting a medical herbalist or nutritionist prior to conception.
FOODS THAT MAY CAUSE INFECTIONS
Although the chance of contracting one of these rare infections is limited, you will reduce this likelihood even further if you follow the basic guidelines given here.
Listeriosis – caused by the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes, this is a very rare infection. Its symptoms are similar to flu and gastroenteritis and it can cause still birth.
Toxoplasmosis – usually symptomless (apart from mild flu symptoms), this can cause serious problems for the baby. Caused by direct contact with the organism Toxoplasma Gondi, it is found in cat faeces, raw meat, and unpasteurized goats’ milk. Soil on fruit and vegetables may be contaminated.
Salmonella – Contamination with Salmonella bacterium can cause bacterial food poisoning. This doesn’t usually harm the baby directly, but any illness involving a high temperature, vomiting, diarrhea, and dehydration could cause a miscarriage or preterm labour.
HERBS TO AVOID DURING PREGNANCY.
Herbal remedies are for the most part quite safe to be taken during pregnancy; some are useful alternatives to drugs both in chronic illness and acute minor problems such as may arise during pregnancy. It is still preferable to take NO MEDICATION whatsoever in the first three months, unless there is a specific problem that needs treatment.
There are many Herbs which should never be taken in pregnancy – their emmonagogue or oxytocic properties may, in large amounts, cause uterine contractions and thereby risk miscarriage: I will only mention a few as there at least twenty on the list.
Nutmeg Myristica Fragrans
Thuja Thuja occidentalis
Calendula Calendula officinalis
Sage Salvia officinalis
Thyme Thymus vulgaris
Marjoram Origanum vulgare
Lovage Levisticum officinale
Rosemary Rosmarinus Officinalis
Rhubarb Rheum sp.
Herbs that are safe to eat to take in culinary doses but not as a medicine during pregnancy include:
celery seed, cinnamon, fennel, fenugreek, oregano, parsley, rosemary, sage and saffron.

“The Doctor Of The Future Will Give No Medicines, But Will Interest His Patients In The Care Of The Human Frame, In Diet, And In The Causes Of Diseases.”
Every man cares about good penis health. He will go to great lengths to ensure that his sexual health is in the best condition possible, and that includes the basics of penis care – keeping the private regions clean, well-tended and moisturized, as well as protected during any sexual encounters.
But when a man has looked over all the potential penis health tips and simply wants to do something more to ensure the best health possible, this list can help. It’s filled with some of the stranger penis health ideas that can lead a man into the best sexual health of his life.
Strange penis health tips
Need to do something more to make sure the penis is ready for action? Here are a few things to consider.
1. Take a long walk. Though men are probably aware that regular exercise is one of the keys to ensuring good overall health, it also pays to take care of the penis through gentle activity. A good walk of at least two miles per day can result in a 50% decrease in the chances of erectile dysfunction.
2. Get a vasectomy. Sometimes men face sexual health problems because they have serious anxiety. This is especially true if a man has decided he doesn’t want children, or he already has more than enough kids to handle. In that case, getting snipped can be an excellent idea. It reduces anxiety, ups the relaxation level and of course, leads to a more active sex life.
3. Stop cheating. Speaking of anxiety, few things can make a man feel more nervous than the prospect of his wife finding out about his mistress. That kind of anxiety can affect a man’s performance in bed. Besides that, there is the fact that being with more than one partner increases the risk of sexually transmitted diseases.
4. Avoid cowgirl. Though it’s one of the most amazing sexual positions a man can enjoy, it can also lead to a serious problem – one that involves fracturing (ouch!) of the penis. When the penis slips out of a partner and hits the pubic bone, it can be best described as running full-tilt into the trunk of a tree – the tree has the same density as that bone does. Since cowgirl is the position that most often leads to this devastating injury, if a man does indulge, he should encourage his partner not to get too wild.
5. Test the blood sugar. Among the reasons that a man might have trouble getting it up, diabetes is at the top of the list. In fact, uncontrolled diabetes can cause so much damage to the smaller blood vessels of the body that erectile dysfunction can become the norm, not the exception. To counter the problem, get regular physicals, know the signs of diabetes and conduct a blood sugar test from time to time to ensure things are where they should be.
6. Yawn like crazy. Sure, it sounds nuts, but yawning is actually good for the body and the penis. Why? A yawn is triggered by nitric oxide, which is the same chemical that triggers erections. When the brain releases nitric oxide, it can affect either breathing or erections – or both. That’s why it’s good to create more of it! Therefore, yawning more often will increase the release of nitric oxide, which in turn can lead to longer or firmer erections. It’s a win-win all around.
In addition to these strange penis health scenarios, a man should keep things simple on a daily basis with a great penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin). Look for a crème that contains several important nutrients, such as retinol for odor-fighting properties, pantothenic acid for healthy tissue, and vitamin C for better elasticity of the penis. A plethora of vitamins and nutrients in a Shea butter base, enhanced with vitamin E for further hydration, can help ensure maximum penis health.
